N.V. origins
For years I struggled to bring sincerity to my art. I hid with comedy writing and avoided adding personal critique. I knew it was cowardice, but felt my skills were not proficient enough to justify opening up. N.V. came as a desire to improve. Force myself to be sincere and recognize the steps of progress I make. N.V. was developed further by frustrations I felt not making art. Having other responsibilities limiting my time and feeling the few hours I had to work were then wasted with kitsch projects. I became an artist to express myself, N.V. is a means to hold myself accountable.
Philosophy
The self titling of an artist is narcissistic. N.V. artists conceded their work to be kitsch as its true purpose is in selfish desire. N.V art is made from the desire to benefit. Be it financially, physically, or spiritually. The art is for self improvement. To quench the envy.
The few rules in creating Nice Visuals, are as follows:
-
Be made for self improvement. Be it the further development of skills, or financial stability, understand how the art benefited one self.
-
It can’t be apathetic. Art comes from sincerity, and N.V is about assertive positivity.
-
It can’t be made from generative algorithms. Such artificial tools are destructive to the soul and go counter to the desire of self improvement.
-
As the title implies, it must be a nice visual. Make it badass and beautiful!
Why become
an N.V. artist?
I believe in a strength granted by self discipline. Setting restrictions on one’s self makes the conscious decisions within the parameters more meaningful. The desire is to create sincere and caring artists. N.V. is a tool; I wish for artists to benefit from. The art itself is an exercise.
What to do as
an N.V. Artist?
Simply self-label as such and follow the four rules of N.V. The art itself can be pursued in any medium. To expand the reach of the N.V. movement, we request the title be added to social media accounts, and appropriate tags be added when sharing N.V. art online. #NV or #NiceVisual.
